Royan Stem Cell Bank (RSCB) Is Inaugurated Today.

Dr Gourabi, Royan Institute President, announced that 8400 vials of embryonic and non-embryonic stem cells in 334 types including 108 mouse embryonic stem cell lines, 106 human induced pluripotent stem cell lines, and 12 human embryonic stem cell lines are kept in Royan Stem Cell Bank.

The International and National Winners of the 12th International Research Award in Reproductive Biomedicine and Stem Cell Biology and Technology are introduced.

Dr Hamid Gourabi, Award Chairman and Royan Institute President, announced that more than 280 papers had been submitted to Award secretariat from 41 countries, including USA(46 papers), Iran(34 papers), India(23 papers), Japan(18 papers), China(17 papers), Italy(16 papers) and UK(9 papers). He mentioned that the research papers are evaluated through an intense jury procedure by 170 Award’s national and international referees.

The Second Royan International Summer School on Developmental Biology and Stem Cells was held on July 17 to 22, 2011 at Royan Institute. More than 250 students participated in this six-day training course in which a number of Royan researchers and five foreign invited speakers proceeded the scientific debates.

Royan Institute established the first Cell Therapy Pre-Hospital in Iran

In order to establish a cell therapy hospital, a Cell Therapy Pre-Hospital was launched at the Institute this morning. Dr. Gourabi, the president of Royan Institute, mentioned that the aim of establishing cell therapy center was to produce appropriate, high quality and standardized cells for treatment application. He pointed out: during these years profiting the clinical, research facilities of the universities many successes are obtained in the use of cell therapy. Now the pre-hospital founded for treatments that require cell application and no long hospitalization. Dr. Gourabi also expressed the establishment of this hospital can provide services to people and plays a role in Iran's medical tourism as well.

Iran scientist wins ISESCO 2010 prizes for Science and Technology

An Iranian scientist has been awarded with the prestigious Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) 2010 Prizes for Science and Technology.

Hossein Baharvand is a leading scientist with major achievements on stem cell domain at Iran's Royan Research Institute.

ISESCO Secretary in Iran Gholam Reza Karimi told ISNA that the organization gives prizes annually to leading Muslim scholars working on technology and science.

Baharvand receives the prize, a certificate, gold medal, and cash of 5,000 dollars, in the 5th meeting of Islamic countries' science and research ministers which is to be held on October 19-21 in Malaysia.
