Bone and Cartilage Tissue Engineering with Mesenchymal Stem Cells workshop was held in Royan Institute on February 5th. The Bone and Cartilage/Mesenchymal Stem Cells research group of Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology organized this theoretical- practical workshop.

The biology, medicine and biomedical engineering researchers and students took this topics on the theoretical section:

  • Isolation, culture, passage of mesenchumal stem cells,
  • Differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells to osteocyte, adipocyte and cartilage
  • Basic of bone and cartilage tissue engineering , Viability Test, Cell Counting, MTT Assay, colony Assay
  • Observation and analysis of MTT test

The following topics were caught on practical part:

  • Isolation, culture, passage of mesenchumal stem cells
  • Osteogenic, Chondrogenic & Adipogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells and alizarin red and oil red staining
  • culture of mesenchymal stem cells on TCP scaffold and alginate gel

Dr M R Baghaban Eslami Nejad was the scientific manager and L Taghiyar was the executive secretary of this workshop.
