Royan Institute holds the following five pre-congress workshops on September 1st to 4th, 2013:
  •   "Mesenchymal Stem Cells" workshop on September 1st and 2nd.The main topics discussed or practiced in this workshop include: Principles of mesenchymal stem cell biology, Isolation and expansion of mesenchymal stem cells, Mesenchymal Stem Cell plating, Viability Test, Cell Counting, MTT Assay, Colony Assay, PDN, PDT, MTT Assay Observation & Data Analysis, Osteogenic, Chondrogenic & Adipogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells, Alizarin Red Staining, Toluidine Blue Staining, and Oil Red Staining. Dr M R Baghban Eslami Nejad and N Fani organized this workshop with 19 participants as scientific manager and executive secretary respectively in Mesenchymal Stem Cells group of Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology.

  •  "Advanced Vitrification Techniques" workshop on September 2nd. This practical workshop was organized by Embryology Department of Royan Institute for Reproductive Biomedicine which brought out the following Three sections for 15 students of various fields: Theoretical and hands on workshop on vitrification of oocytes and embryos, Irvine scientific vitrification solutions, Irvine scientific vitrification device. The scientific managers were Dr J Conaghan, J Spach, and L Karimian, and the executive secretaries were Dr  P Eftekhari Yazdi, and M Hadi.

  • "Semen Analysis" workshop on September 2nd. 21 students of various fields participated in this theoretical, practical workshop which detailed all necessary steps to ensure an accurate sperm count. This course was an excellent source of continuing education for medical technologists and technicians. It was also appropriate for training laboratory personnel, cross training, and clinical laboratory science student. The topics were as follow: Sample Collection, Factors Contributing To Sperm Damage, Microscopic Evaluation, Sperm Motility And Agglutination, Sperm Count, Sperm Morphology, Sperm Viability, Leukocytes And Immature Cells, Complementary Test, Anti- Globin Reaction, Quality Control And Quality Assurance, Solutions Required For Spermogram. This Workshop was organized by Dr R Salman Yazdi as scientific manager and Dr M Sabbaghian as executive secretary in Andrology department of Royan Institute for reproductive Biomedicine.

  • "New Perspectives in COS & Embryology" workshop on September 3rd. This theoretical workshop was organized by the Endocrinology and Female Infertility department of Royan Institute for Reproductive Biomedicine. The following topics were held by Prof P Humaidan and Dr M Meseguer; two danish invited speakers: PCOS and COS, Objective embryo assessment; Utility of time-lapse, Managing the poor responder patient, Embryo culture systems; What we have learned from blastocyst, Optimal usage of the GnRH antagonist protocol, Vitrification in ART and fertility preservation, Debate on who is the most important?, The embryologist is the most important, The clinician is the most important. The scientific manager of this workshop which took by 100 participants, was Dr M Ashrafi and the executive secretary was N Jahangiri.

  • "Three-dimensinal Hysterosonography" workshop on September 4th.  About 60 radiologists and gynechologists took benefit of this theoretical, practical workshop in which the following topics carried on: Definition and Introduction of 3-D Hysterosonography, Indications, Contraindications, Timing of the examination, Pre-procedure medications, Procedure, Normal findings, Abnormal findings, Endometrial polyps, Hyperplasia, Leiomyoma, Synechiae, Tamoxifen-related changes, Congenital uterine anomalies. The scientific managers of this workshop was Dr A Kurjak and Dr F Ahmadi, the executive secretary was F Nicknejad.
