On Januaray 8th, 2014 Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology held a symposium on Cell Therapy in Kidney and Urinary Tract Diseases organized by Renal Cells research group in memorial of the late founder of Royan Institute, Dr Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani.

80 participants from different fields participated this symposium with the following outlines:
  • History of cell therapy in kidney diseases
  • Cell therapy in acute and chronic renal failure
  • Immunological aspects of mesenchymal stem cells usage in kidney transplantation
  • The use of mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of polycystic kidney diseases (PKD)
  • Interactions between mesenchymal stem cells and transplantation immunosuppressive drugs

  • Medical ethics in cell therapy of kidney and urinary tract diseases
  • Cell therapy for urinary incontinence
  • Human kidney and urine proteome project

The scientific manager of Cell Therapy in Kidney and Urinary Tract Diseases Symosium was Dr F Dadkhah and the executive manager was Dr R Moghaddasali. Dr Tadashi Yamamoto from Nephrology Institute of Japan had a lecture on Human kidney and urine proteome project.
