The 20th Royan International Research Award (RIRA) wrapped up its work on August 28th, 2019 by awarding the top three international researchers beside a national scientist selected from among 67 research articles of 17 countries.

Winners of Royan 20th International Research Award gave lectures at Royan Twin Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine and Stem Cell Biology and Technology along with invited speakers to almost 1740 audiences.

 

Prof Jemma Evans from Australia received the prize of REPRODUCTIVE BIOMEDICINE in Clinical Sciences for submitting the paper entitled "The Negative Impact of Obesity Associated Advanced Glycation End Products on Female Fertility". Prof Brian Hermann from United States of America won the prize of REPRODUCTIVE BIOMEDICINE in Basic Sciences for having the paper entitled "Single-Cell Transcriptomes of Mouse and Human Spermatogenic Cells Defines Heterogeneity in Spermatogonial Stem Cells". Prof Hervé Petite from The France was selected as the winner of STEM CELL BIOLOGY AND TECHNOLOGY for his paper entitled "Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell Failure to Adapt to Glucose Shortage and Rapidly Use Intracellular Energy Reserves Through Glycolysis Explains Poor Cell Survival After Implantation". The National Winner of REPRODUCTIVE BIOMEDICINE was Dr Mehdi Totonchi for his paper on "Application of Genomic Studies in Uncovering Sperm Defects Mechanisms".

 

All research projects were submitted online through which the above mentioned ones were invited to take part in the Award Ceremony and the international winners were rewarded with a certificate, the symbol of Royan Award and a Prestigious Iranian Board Rug. In order to submit projects, it is needed to register in RIRA website, get a username and password and submit related project(s) in the fields of Reproductive Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and Biotechnology. The submission procedure requires project abstract, full paper(s) in PDF format, and a CV.
