Professor Hossein Baharvand Laureates 2019 Mustafa Prize |

Professor Hossein Baharvand, Director of Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology, has been selected as the recipient of prestigious Mustafa Award 2019. This Award is an honor given to distinguished Scientists from Islamic world. Professor Baharvand won the prize for “Parkinson's treatment and Eye AMD with Stem Cell”. He has been acknowledged for his substantial contribution in development of Stem Cell Science in Iran and all over the world. He has established the first embryonic stem cell lines from mouse and human in Iran and developed protocols for their differentiation into various cell types with the efforts of his team. Now these cells are available for research as well as clinical application. In the prize ceremony which was held at Vahdat Hall on November 11, Professor Ugur Sahin from Turkey and Professor Ali Khademhosseini from Iran shared the Mustafa Prize in Life & Medical Science and Technology.Prof. Umran S. Inan from Turkey, Professor Hossein Baharvand and Dr. Mohammad Abdolahad from Iran shared the Mustafa Prize in scientists from Islamic countries category of the event. The Mustafa Prize is awarded in five categories of information and communication science and technology, life and medical science and technology, Nano-science and nanotechnology and all areas of science and technology.

The 20th Royan International Research Award (RIRA) wrapped up its work on August 28th, 2019 by awarding the top three international researchers beside a national scientist selected from among 67 research articles of 17 countries.
Winners of Royan 20th International Research Award gave lectures at Royan Twin Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine and Stem Cell Biology and Technology along with invited speakers to almost 1740 audiences.

The 10th Royan International Summer School on Molecular Biomedicine from Diagnostics to Therapeutics was held on July 13th to 17th, 2019 at Royan Institute. More than 300 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students got the chance to taste different aspects of the rapidly growing, multidisciplinary field of Molecular Biomedicine from Diagnostics to Therapeutics in order to gain invaluable insights towards finding their area of interest for their future research in the field.
