Royan Institute established the first Cell Therapy Pre-Hospital in Iran
   

In order to establish a cell therapy hospital, a Cell Therapy Pre-Hospital was launched at the Institute this morning. Dr. Gourabi, the president of Royan Institute, mentioned that the aim of establishing cell therapy center was to produce appropriate, high quality and standardized cells for treatment application. He pointed out: during these years profiting the clinical, research facilities of the universities many successes are obtained in the use of cell therapy. Now the pre-hospital founded for treatments that require cell application and no long hospitalization. Dr. Gourabi also expressed the establishment of this hospital can provide services to people and plays a role in Iran's medical tourism as well.

Iran scientist wins ISESCO 2010 prizes for Science and Technology

An Iranian scientist has been awarded with the prestigious Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) 2010 Prizes for Science and Technology.

Hossein Baharvand is a leading scientist with major achievements on stem cell domain at Iran's Royan Research Institute.

ISESCO Secretary in Iran Gholam Reza Karimi told ISNA that the organization gives prizes annually to leading Muslim scholars working on technology and science.

Baharvand receives the prize, a certificate, gold medal, and cash of 5,000 dollars, in the 5th meeting of Islamic countries' science and research ministers which is to be held on October 19-21 in Malaysia.

An extensive three-day school covering different subjects in developmental biology and stem cells  was held  in  Royan institute on  July 13-15, 2010. The aim  was to improve biology knowledge among Iranian biologists. More than 200 participants  participated in this course. The audience were well- expert biologists and students seeking for advanced science. That  was an  interactive course between professors and the audience. Dr. Lopez and Dr Roelen from Netherland conveyed their brilliant expertise to the audience.
We will hope to have other summer schools in further.

Bonyana, Iran’s first cloned calf was successfully born via cesarean section on Saturday, July 11th 2009 in the Nasr Animal Husbandry affiliated with Royan Institute’s Isfahan Campus.
“This was the most important part of Royan Institute’s research in the field of cloning and transgenic animals, which can lead to the production of farm animals and recombinant drugs” said Dr. Mohammed Hossein Nasr Isfahani, Head of Royan Institute’s Isfahan Campus.

Gestational period of the black Bakhtiari surrogate mother which carried this beautiful fawn-white goat was 147 days.
