This workshop's hands-on activities were including:
  • An Introduction on gene cloning
  • Preparation of culture media
  • Cultivation of bacteria
  • Ligation Reaction
  • Transformation of recombinant plasmids
  • Preparation of bacterial competent cells
  • Colony PCR
  • Plasmid Extraction
  • Digestion of recombinant plasmid
  • Agarose and sample preparation
  • Gel electrophoresis and data analysis
A Amiri Yekta was in charge of scientific management of this two-day workshop whose executive manager was M Totonchi.
The Gene Expression Analysis by Real-time PCR workshop was organized by molecular biology lab of stem cells and developmental biology department, Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology.

At this theoretical-practical workshop, levels on gene expression analysis were discussed, RNA was extracted from cultured cells following cDNA synthesis and RT-PCR was done for target gene and reference gene. The application of Real-time PCR and the methods were also discussed and trainees ran a sample reaction and analyzed data with REST package. 13 researchers and students in biomedicine, veterinary science, genetics and laboratory science participated in this two-day workshop.
Dr H Baharvand was the scientific manager and A Fathi the executive secretary of this workshop.
