The 14th Royan International Research Award wrapped up its work on September 4th, 2013 by awarding the top four international researchers besides four national scientists selected from among 206 research articles of 39 countries.
Winners of Royan 14th International Research Award gave lectures at Royan Twin Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine and Stem Cell Biology and Technology along with invited speakers to almost 2100 audiences.

Dr Pierre F Ray from France received the prize of ANDROLOGY & REPRODUCTIVE GENETICS for submitting the paper entitled "Search for Genetic Causes of Male Infertility". Dr Paola Oanina Bordignon from Italy won the prize of FEMALE INFERTILITY for having the paper entitled "The Selective Vitamin D Receptor Agonist Elocalcitol Reduces Development of Endometriosis and Formation of Peritoneal Adhesion in a Mouse Model". Dr Mariano Buffone from United States had the prize of EMBRYOLOGY for his paper entitled "Role of Actin Cytoskeleton During Mouse Sperm Acrosomal Exocytosis". Dr Antonio Uccelli from Italy gained the prize of STEM CELL BIOLOGY & TECHNOLOGY for submitting the paper entitled "Mesenchymal Stem Cells Shape Microglia Effector Functions Through the Release of CX3CL1". The national prize of EMBRYOLOGY went to an Iranian scientist, Dr Armin Towhidi for his paper entitled "Omega-3 Fatty Acids Accompanied with α-tocopherol Improved Fresh and Post-thaw Sperm Quality in Ruminants". The national winner of FEMALE INFERTILITY was Dr Ashraf Moini for her paper on “Risk Factors Associated with Endometriosis Among Iranian Infertile Women”.  Dr Hossein Mozdarani achieved the national prize of REPRODUCTIVE GENETICS for his project on "Genome Instability and DNA Damage in Male Somatic and Germ Cells Expresses as Chromosomal Microdeletion and Aneuploidy Is a Major Cause of Male Infertility". Dr Malek Hossein Asadi won the national prize of STEM CELL BIOLOGY & TECHNOLOGY for submitting the paper entitled ”OCT4B1, a Novel Spliced Variant of OCT4, Is Highly Expressed in Gastric Cancer and Acts as an Antiapoptotic Factor”.
All research projects were submitted online through which the above mentioned ones were invited to take part in the Award Ceremony and were rewarded for a certificate, the symbol of Royan Award and the amount of $5000. In order to submit projects it is needed to register in Royan International Research Award website, get a username and password and submit related project(s) in the fields of Reproductive Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology and Technology, and Biotechnology. The submission procedure requires project abstract, full paper(s) in PDF format, a new color photo portrait, and a CV.
