The 6th Royan International Summer School on Interdisciplinary Sciences for Tomorrow’s Medicine was held on July 25th to 30th, 2015 at Royan Institute. The main purposes of this summer school on biological, engineering and medical sciences included:
  • Initiate a gathering of students and international professors in the fields of developmental biology and stem cells.
  • help the students with little experience in developmental biology and stem cell research to learn new findings and know in this field and increase their knowledge and experiences.
  • Meet international professors with different nations, learn their experiences and discuss different issues and subjects related to their researches with them. Learn the most novel and advanced possible laboratory techniques in our country.

Also, the following subjects were dedicated in this school:
  • Developmental Biology
  • Stem Cells
  • Regenerative Biology
  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Animal Biotechnology
  • Genetics
  • Cellular and Molecular Biology
  • Reproductive Biology
  • Cell and Tissue Engineering
More than 400 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students made use of the scientific sessions in which the following main topics were taught and discussed: Tissue engineering, regenerative medicine approaches to kidney, diabetes, liver and heart diseases and biology of hematopoietic and spermatogonial stem cells.
This six-day theoretical-practical summer school was provided in English language. A number of Royan researchers and five international professors from English, Germany, France, Portugal, Belgium and two national professors preceded the scientific debates.
Each day the lectures were succeeded by the following workshops from 14:00 to 16:30; How to succeed in science: cutting edge research, publication and funding, commercialization of tissue engineering / regenerative medicine product, from pancreatic islet encapsulation to transplantation, hepatocyte transplantation to rat liver, programming of hematopoietic stem cells, evaluation of electrophysiological maturity of stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, MEA and patch-clamp techniques.
This program was organized by Dr R Moghadasali as scientific Manager and M Najar Asl as the executive secretary and their colleagues in Royan Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Technology.
